Tootsie Toys plastic animals

I seem to have been away for a long time, it was never particularly intended to be like that, but it has somehow happened. One of the reasons is the growth of pinterest*. Which Ive been using quite a bit. A shame really as it doesnt seem to have the community aspect that perhaps a blog has, but it is fast and a good way of collating and storing online finds. One things for sure, is its certainly less labour intensive than the blog, but sadly much less personal!

Anyhow, back today with some more plastic animals, in the shape of Tootsie toys. I know nothing about them, but have been picking them up over the last few years. The dinosaur series seems to be much more sought after than the animals, but these fellas have a charm of their own.

We have been finding some lovely things, so I do promise to come back soon.

* Should you want to follow me on pinterest you can do so here.

1981 Plastic Charles & Diana shaped badge

Given its the Jubilee weekend, and they've given us an extra days holiday, something of a royal theme for today's post. This 2" plastic crown shaped badge depicts a rather serious looking Charles & Diana, back in 1981. Maybe the artist knew something about their fated relationship before anyone else, they certainly dont look very romantically inclined!

Halloween offering

Happy Halloween, one and all. Brought to you, especially for today, another unknown plastic offering, this time in the shape of a 3.5" Dracula. Ive been saving this little gem for a while. I believe he dates from the eighties.

1982 World Cup England Scarf

In doing a little bit of research for the 1970s England football scarf, I posted last week I unconvered this Eighties one, on ebay. It was too good not to purchase and for the princely sum of £3.32 this little piece of football history was mine!

While not quite in the same league as the scarf from 1974, it does amuse me. Thankfully most of the perms have been checked, although it appears a few players; Kevin Keegan, Terry McDermott, Tony Woodcock & Bryan Robson were still tinkering with the style.

The 1982 England team qualified for the World Cup in good shape, they were hard to beat and had only lost 4/32 games under the manger, Ron Greenwood. Having won all the group games, hopes were high, but sadly England went out in the next group stage even though they had never lost a game. In 1986 the tournament format was changed.
